Presbyterian College of Education, Akropong (PCE) Akwapem. The mother of all schools in Ghana was founded by the Basel Evangelical Society in 1848 to train teachers for primary schools. The College has been at the forefront of teacher education in Ghana since its inception. In 1945, the College began to train visually impaired students. Currently,
PCE is the only college in Ghana that has a Special Education Unit that trains visually impaired, hearing impaired, and physically-challenged students. As a college determined to gain autonomy, it is developing its resources through an aggressive development plan.
