The Presbyterian College of Education, Akropong – Akuapem, a public tertiary education institution known for training competent teachers for the pre – tertiary level, is inviting applications from qualified persons for the following positions:

SENIOR LEVEL POSITIONS (ADMINISTRATION)

  1. ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN

Job Summary

 The successful applicant will work closely with sections of the library and assist readers in locating books and also assist students and faculties in the area of research.

Qualifications and Experience

The applicant must:

  • Possess a good First Degree and Postgraduate Degreein librarianship
  • Have served as Junior Assistant Librarian in a College of Education or comparable grade in a similar institution or organization for, at least two years.
  • ASSISTANT SECRETARY

Job Summary

The successful applicant will provide administrative and clerical support to the executive staff of the college and help implement office procedures to keep the college running smoothly.

Qualifications and Experience

The applicant must hold a good first degree and a postgraduate degree or equivalent professional qualification in the subject area. He or She must have two (2) years relevant work experience in administration.

JUNIOR LEVEL POSITIONS (ADMINISTRATION)

  • ICT ASSISTANT

Job Summary

Stationed in the Central ICT Laboratory, the successful applicant will work under direct supervision of the Chief ICT Assistant and provide helpdesk services to ICT authorized users leading to smooth operation of the ICT infrastructure of the college.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicant must:

  • HoldBachelor of Science In ICT
  • Possess minimum HND or University Diploma or its equivalent in the relevant subject area. He or She must have served for four (4) years in a college of education or a similar institution.
  • SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Job Summary

The Senior Administrative Assistant will perform a wide range of administrative and secretarial duties of executive nature.

Qualifications and Experience

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. He or She must have served as Administrative Assistant in a College of Education or a similar institution for, at least, four (4) years.
  • SECURITY OFFICER

Job Summary

A successful applicant will assist the Chief Security Officer in the maintenance of peace and security in the college.

Qualifications and Experience

The Candidate must:

  • Possess five (5) credits in GCE ‘O’ Level/School Certificate or six (6) credits in WASSCE/SSSCE including a pass in English Language.
  • Be physically fit and be not below 20 years.  A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree with three (3) years working experience will be an added advantage.              

                                                             Or

  • Have served in the Armed Forces, Police Service or any recognized security service.
  • COOK

Job Summary

Stationed at the main kitchen, the successful applicant will work under the Domestic Bursar and prepare meals under conditions that ensure food safety and hygiene.

Qualification and Experience

Applicant must

  • Hold an NVTI certificate in Hospitality and Catering or Equivalent Professional Certificate from a recognized institution. He She must have passes in Mathematics and English.

The successful applicant will do manual work to maintain the college scenery.

SENIOR LEVEL POSITIONS (TEACHING)

  • CHIEF TUTOR

Qualification And Experience

 Appointment to the grade of Chief Tutor shall be on the basis of the candidate being nationally acknowledged as a master – teacher and scholar in the candidate’s field, as well as, his/her contribution to the intellectual and professional reputation of the College. The applicant must have served as a Principal Tutor for a minimum period of four (4) years. The applicant shall present a minimum of nine (9) cumulative publications, five (5) of which must be published in recognized peer reviewed journals. External assessors shall be required to evaluate the applicant’s publications in line with the College’s Statutes.

  • PRINCIPAL TUTOR

Qualification And Experience

The applicant must have served as a Senior Tutor for a minimum of four (4) years and demonstrated outstanding performance in teaching and research in the candidate’s subject area. The applicant must support his or her application with a minimum offive (5) publications three (3) of which must have been published in recognized peer reviewed journals. External assessors shall be required to evaluate candidate’s publications in line with the College’s Statutes.

  1. SENIOR TUTOR

Qualification And Experience

Applicant must have served satisfactorily as a Tutor for a minimum of four (4) years and must have published a minimum of two (2) works, one (1) of which must have been published in a recognized peer reviewed journal. External assessors shall be required to evaluate candidate’s publications in line with the College’s Statutes.

  1. TUTOR

Qualification And Experience

Applicant must

  • Hold a good First Degree and a Masters’ Degree by researchin a relevant subject area. Both degrees must be in the same subject area. A Ph.D. will be added advantage. Appointment to the position of Tutor shall be for a term of five (5) years and may be renewed for a second term upon satisfactory performance. A Tutor’s appointment may be renewed up to a maximum of three terms, that is, a total of fifteen (15) years upon which the appointment may be terminated unless the applicant qualifies for promotion to Senior Tutor position.
  • Have served as Tutor in a College of Education or comparable grade in a similar institution or organization for, at least, four (4) years.

SPECIAL AREAS OF CONSIDERATION INCLUDE:

  • Education for people with visual impairment
  • Social Studies
  • Religious and Moral Education (RME)
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Vocational (an applicant with Fashion Design or Clothing and Textiles will be preferred)
  • Creative Arts (Music)

JUNIOR LEVEL POSITIONS (TEACHING)

  1. FARM MANAGER (AGRICULTURE)

Qualification Required and Experience

Applicant must:

  • Have a minimum of three (3) years cumulative experience as Assistant Farm Manager.
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture (Animal Science Major) from a recognized University. He or She must have not less than 2 years practical post-qualification experience.

 OR

  •  Hold a National Diploma in Agriculture from a recognized University. He or She must have not less than four (4) years practical post-qualification experience
  • A Masters’ Degree will be added advantage.

  • Be able to complete at least one term of four (4) years on first appointment before attaining the compulsory retirement age of sixty (60).
